Zoom's Latest Update: A Story of Artificial Intelligence and Smarter Teamwork

Zoom, like other big tech firms, is diving into the world of AI. Recently, they launched major updates at their Zoomtopia 2024 event. The new features aim to boost team communication and productivity. One highlight is the AI Companion 2.0. Now, users can chat with it more easily, as it sits in a special side panel on the Zoom Workplace window. It offers clever suggestions based on what you're looking at and past conversations. Even better, it can fetch info from Microsoft Outlook, Gmail, Google Calendar, and files from Microsoft Office or Google Docs to help you sum up content and interactions.

The AI Companion 2.0 can also spot, track, and finish tasks across various Zoom Workplace workloads. It answers questions and looks up info online in real time. Users with a Zoom Workplace account won't pay extra for this upgrade, available next month. Zoom also revealed a customizable AI Companion experience as an optional add-on. It taps into more data sources and company information to give personalized AI support. There's a new feature called Tasks that uses the AI Companion to detect, suggest, and finish tasks based on conversations. Plus, an AI Companion for in-person meetings is coming, offering summaries and action items on mobile devices.
