Young Lives, Dark Crimes: The Making of 'Torpedo'
Denmark, known for its cozy hygge culture, hides a grim reality beneath the surface. Two Danish filmmakers are teaming up to shine a light on a disturbing trend: gangs exploiting young people as weapons.
The Filmmakers
Frederik Louis Hviid, known for his work on the upcoming heist thriller 'The Quiet Ones', and Tobias Lindholm, who directed 'The Good Nurse', are collaborating on a new crime thriller called 'Torpedo'.
The Story
'Torpedo' dives into the world of so-called 'torpedoes'—kids and teens who are forced into committing violent crimes. The story revolves around Kian, a 16-year-old who finds himself in a deadly situation after a drug deal goes wrong.
The Research
The filmmakers have done their homework, talking to police, lawyers, and even the young people who have been caught up in this cycle of violence.
"This isn't just a problem in other countries—it's happening in Denmark too."
Frederik Louis Hviid
The Dark Side of Denmark
Hviid wants to understand what drives these young people to commit acts of violence they might not fully grasp. Lindholm adds that the film will show the darker side of life in Denmark, focusing on the kids who get trapped in the world of crime.
The Release
The film is set to hit theaters in 2027, produced by Marcella Dichmann for SF Studios. It's a bold move, tackling a tough subject, but one that could spark important conversations.
