William Echoles: Faith, Family, and Football
A Force on the Field
William Echoles, a standout defensive tackle for the Ole Miss Rebels, stands at an imposing 6-foot-3 and weighs 310 pounds. Over the past two seasons, he has made 60 tackles and 4.5 sacks, ranking second in the school this season.
From Small-Town Roots to College Stardom
Echoles' journey from a small-town kid to a key player for the Rebels is nothing short of impressive. Born on August 7, 2006, in Houston, Mississippi, he grew up with his mother and two sisters. He started his football career at Houston High School, where he played both defensive and offensive lines. As a senior, he was named the 4A Mississippi Mr. Football and the 4A MHSAA Defensive Player of the Year.
Faith and Family
Echoles credits his success to his family and his faith. He is a devout Christian, frequently sharing his faith on social media, often quoting Bible verses and thanking God for his blessings. On October 16, 2024, he posted a picture with the caption "Jeremiah 29:11", highlighting his trust in God's plan.
His mother, Regina Lyles-Echoles, often celebrates Black History Month and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, showing their commitment to equality and justice.
A 4-Star Prospect
Despite growing up around Mississippi State fans, Echoles always had a soft spot for Ole Miss. He was a 4-star prospect and had 19 offers before committing to Ole Miss. His journey is a testament to his hard work, faith, and family support.
