Why Korean AI Firms are Switching to TSMC for Their Chips

Lately, some big names in the South Korean AI scene have been turning away from Samsung's foundry and towards Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). This change is happening because Samsung has hit a few bumps, especially with their 3nm technology. Take Furiosa AI for instance. They used to be all about Samsung but are now going with TSMC’s 5nm tech for their second-generation chip called 'Renegade'. This is a big move because it's the first time a Korean AI company is using TSMC’s advanced packaging, CoWoS.

DeepX has also jumped ship to TSMC for their DX-V3 chip. And guess what? Even Mobilint is transferring its latest AI silicon production to TSMC! So why are they making this switch? It's likely because Samsung is having a tough time with their more advanced nodes. But who knows, maybe Samsung can bounce back soon. We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold.
