Why Are More Young Women Getting Cancer?
USAFriday, January 17, 2025
Lung cancer is another problem. Women under 65 are now getting lung cancer more often than men. This is because women started smoking later and may still be catching up on quitting.
Cervical cancer is also on the rise among women aged 30 to 44. This could be because of vaccine hesitancy and not getting regular pap smears.
The obesity crisis in the U. S. is also a factor. Women are more likely to be obese than men, and young people are more likely to be overweight than their parents and grandparents. Lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of many cancers.
Better screening guidelines and technology are helping to find cancers earlier, like breast and thyroid cancers. Overall, cancer survival rates are improving, but some types of cancer are still increasing.
