Why Are Black Men Less Supportive of Kamala Harris?

Scott Jennings, a CNN contributor, thinks Democrats are losing black male voters because they focus too much on identity politics and transgender issues. He says many black men feel Democrats care more about trans people than them. This is shown in polls where Kamala Harris' support from black male voters is lower than Biden's was in 2020. She has 70% support from black men, while Biden had 85%.

Harris does better with black women, who give her 83% support. But the gap between how black men and women support her is a real issue. Some people think it's because of sexism. Former President Obama even said that black men might not be ready to vote for a woman president. To fix this, Harris announced a new plan called the "Opportunity Agenda for Black Men." It includes things like loans for Black entrepreneurs and apprenticeship programs. She also wants to legalize marijuana and help Black men get into the business side of that industry.
