Wheat in Salad Topper: A Thanksgiving Surprise

Sugar Foods had to recall these bags in 20 states because of a wheat allergen scare. The recall was announced just before Thanksgiving, with the affected bags having a best by date of June 20, 2025, and a UPC code of 7 87359 17504 6. The distribution was nationwide, from September 30, 2024, to November 11, 2024. A customer tipped off Sugar Foods on November 19 about the mix-up.

Wheat isn't supposed to be in these strips, so people with allergies could have serious reactions. Luckily, no illnesses were reported. The strips were sent to various states, including Arizona, California, and Texas. If you bought these, you can get a refund or toss them out. This recall isn't alone. Recently, carrot products were recalled due to E. coli fears, and a meat and poultry recall was expanded. These recalls show how important food safety is. It's a good reminder to always check our food labels and stay alert.
