What Americans Expect from Trump's Second Term: Hope and Challenges
USAMonday, January 20, 2025
Looking abroad, more people believe Trump will increase peace and stability, particularly in the Middle East. This is a sharp contrast to how many view President Biden's policies. On domestic issues, Americans are split on various policies like ending birthright citizenship and buying Greenland.
Despite the optimism, many Democrats are concerned about the state of U. S. politics. They feel demoralized and exhausted, with few feeling motivated. There's a mixed opinion on how Democrats should handle Trump's presidency. Some want common ground, while others want strong opposition.
Younger voters and men are particularly optimistic about Trump's second term. Even some voters who backed Kamala Harris are now hopeful about Trump's presidency. Overall, more Americans want the new administration to succeed than fail.
This survey was conducted between January 15-17, 2025, with a nationally representative sample of 2, 174 U. S. adults.
