Imagine going on the internet to find health info and finding nothing. That's what a lot of people experienced over a few days.  The CDC, which is part of the U. S. government, took down many of its websites. These website held important guides for preventing and treating HIV, STD and contraception. The CDC also took down a guide for helping young people with gender. The website for the National Institutes of Health also lost pages about supporting women in biomedical careers and funding opportunities.  The website for HIV information and the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, a study that has been around for decades, went dark on the internet.  A group of people tried to save the information and put it on a separate site. They said it was a big job and they felt it was important. The president said that the changes were in response to executive orders. A doctor said removing this information is harmful to people and the progress of gender study and research.

        " The loss of whole websites and datasets sent researchers, journalists and other people into a frenzy trying to save the information. "

        "Researchers and journalists are not the only ones to notice.  Many doctors depend on the CDC's guidelines for prescribing birth control and treating STIs. "

        Two doctors feared that without access to the CDC's guidelines, doctors and other healthcare professionals may struggle to provide care to patients who need it most.  "The idea of them going away is frightening.  The only thing that does is cause harm to the American people"  said one of the doctors.
