It plays a huge role in fighting off bacterial infections by causing bacteria to self-destruct. Scientists have created a sort of glowing beacon to spot GzmB in action. This beacon helps them see just how hard the immune cells are working.

It's like having a real-time map of the battlefield. Knowing more about GzmB could help scientists find better ways to tackle tough-to-kill bacteria. They've made three different beacons, but one called HCy-F is especially good at lighting up GzmB activity.
