A pet treat company in Michigan is pulling some of its dog chews off the shelves. Why? Because they might be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacteria that can make both pets and people sick.

Nature's Own Pet Chews Bully Bites are being recalled. These treats come in one-pound bags and have an expiration date of September 2027.

• Sold in Wisconsin
• Shipped from Minnesota after September 23

FDA Findings

• Testing conducted on September 11
• Production and sales halted until the issue is resolved

Health Risks of Salmonella

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Stomach cramps
• Fever
• Rare cases: Joint pain, heart infections

In Dogs

• Lethargy
• Fever
• Vomiting
• Loss of appetite
• Diarrhea
• Even asymptomatic dogs can spread bacteria

No Reported Illnesses (So Far)

• Return them to the store or dispose of them safely
• Wash hands, bowls, and food containers thoroughly
