Veteran Hands Over the Wheel of Appliance Repair

Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USAThursday, July 2, 2026

Dave Pulkrabek has spent over forty years fixing household gadgets after a long stint in the Army. As he moves into retirement, he is passing his company to another service member so the shop stays in veteran hands.

Founded 1979 – Pulkrabek started Appliance Service Company (ASC) using skills honed while working on helicopters during his military career. He recalls how the Army taught him to work with people from all backgrounds, a lesson he carried into business.

The New Owner

Three miles away on Highway 12, Steven Goss runs a similar repair shop that buys broken appliances from the community and sells them back. When he heard Pulkrabek was looking to sell, Goss saw a chance to keep the legacy alive.

  • Military background
  • Pulkrabek: helicopter mechanic & crew chief
  • Goss: Iraq Marine, scout sniper, retired due to combat injuries

Their shared service made the transfer feel natural and purposeful.

A Commitment to Community

Goss believes his time in uniform prepared him for entrepreneurship, noting that serving the community continues even after active duty ends. He plans to keep all five employees at ASC, ensuring continuity and job security for the local workforce.

Transition Details

  • Sale finalized: May 22
  • Pulkrabek’s last day: June 19
  • Locations remain unchanged – ASC stays on London Road; Goss Appliance operates on Highway 12, both staying true to their veteran roots.
