Vandalized KC Coffee Shop Gets Unexpected Boost from Community

A Vietnamese coffee shop in Kansas City, Café Ca Phe, has been experiencing a surge in business after being vandalized last week. The community has shown tremendous support, with customers lining up to show their solidarity. Early morning on Wednesday, Nov. 6, surveillance footage captured someone stepping out of a car and damaging the shop's storefront. Bety Le Shackelford, a representative from Café Ca Phe, expressed that the incident felt threatening, especially due to the recent election. However, the weekend brought a different story. People began lining up outside the store as early as 10 AM, and sales doubled each day they were open. The shop had to call in extra baristas to keep up with the overwhelming support.

Customers like Sara Armfield and Gabriel Nehrbass heard about the incident on social media and decided to visit the coffee shop to show their support. Armfield was shocked and immediately wanted to help. Nehrbass emphasized the importance of supporting diverse communities, noting that small actions can make a big difference. The community’s response has been heartwarming for the business. They see it as a sign that even after adversity, good things can follow. Shackelford expressed the shop’s gratitude and promised to give back to the community tenfold. Café Ca Phe is currently planning to launch a nonprofit to further contribute to the community. Kansas City police have made an arrest in connection with the vandalism incident.
