Right now, doctors mainly use antibodies to spot these proteins. But these antibodies can be pricey and hard to use. Plus, they can't help treat the cancer. So, scientists created some special molecules called fluorescent probes. These probes can find the proteins, light them up, and even help kill the cancer cells.

One of these probes, called Probe 17, was really good at finding the proteins and giving clear images of cancer cells. It was also easier to use and cheaper than antibodies. Plus, it helped stop cancer cells from growing and even made some of them die. This makes Probe 17 a great tool for doctors to see cancer and treat it at the same time.
