Understanding the Impact of Bacteria on Citrus Immune System
citrusSunday, January 26, 2025
The results showed that these SDEs (SDE4310, SDE4435, and SDE4955) were successfully introduced into the citrus leaves. Interestingly, they found that these SDEs could boost the bacteria's growth by reducing the plant's immune gene activities. Researchers also discovered a way to reduce the expression of one of these SDEs (SDE4310) using AuNPs-PEI to deliver small interfering RNAs (siRNAs). Although this didn't stop the bacteria from growing, it did increase the plant's immune gene expression. This is the first time AuNPs-PEI has been used to deliver exogenous plasmids into citrus cells, opening up new avenues for studying HLB.
