Understanding Bladder Pain in Women: A New Terminology
GLOBALFriday, January 3, 2025
To tackle this, the American Urogynecologic Society and the International Urogynecologic Association teamed up. They aimed to standardize the language used to describe FBPS. With different definitions worldwide, they wanted to clear things up for doctors and researchers. After reviewing data and clinical experiences, they suggested using "FBPS" instead of "interstitial cystitis. " This term better describes the chronic, intermittent bladder pain women experience over at least three months.
Standardizing terminology helps everyone understand FBPS in the same way. This should improve diagnosis and care for women dealing with this condition.
