Ukraine Conflict: Lawmaker Warns of North Korean Troops

Ohio Congressman Mike Turner, who leads the House Intelligence Committee, has requested an urgent briefing from the White House. He's concerned that North Korea might send troops to aid Russia in the Ukraine war. This comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and South Korea's spy agency reported that North Korean soldiers could be involved. Zelensky warned that thousands of North Korean troops might join the fight. South Korea's intelligence later confirmed that at least 1, 500 soldiers had been sent to Russia this month.

These troops were given Russian uniforms and weapons. Turner wrote to President Joe Biden, calling this a "red line" that the U. S. and NATO should not allow. He wants a classified briefing on the situation. While the U. S. Defense Department and NATO haven't confirmed these reports, they are worried about Russia and North Korea's growing military ties. Russia denies these reports. Some North Korean soldiers might have deserted the Russian front line.
