TSMC's Arizona Chip Plant Beats Taiwan's in Quality
Arizona, USASaturday, October 26, 2024
TSMC is known for its high-quality chips, which are used by tech giants like NVIDIA and AMD. Now, its Arizona plant seems to be outdoing expectations. The plant is planned to produce 4 nanometer chips from 2025. These are advanced chips, similar to the 5 nanometer ones but with even smaller parts. The goal is to eventually operate three fabs at the site, with 3 nanometer and 2 nanometer chips in the works for 2028.
During a recent earnings call, TSMC's CEO, C. C. Wei, announced that 4 nanometer engineering production had begun in Arizona. The higher yields could make these chips more appealing, especially for high-performance computing. This success could help TSMC gauge demand and plan future investments in the US.
