Trump's Space Force Pick for Air Force Secretary

Washington DC, USAFriday, January 17, 2025
President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Troy Meink, currently the second-in-command at the National Reconnaissance Office, to head the Department of the Air Force. Trump announced the decision on Truth Social, reaffirming his commitment to a strong Air Force. Meink, a former navigator on KC-135 aircraft, has worked in various national security and intelligence roles since 2020. Notably, Trump has also picked Matt Lohmeier, a former Space Force lieutenant colonel, as the Air Force undersecretary. Lohmeier was previously dismissed for his views on alleged Marxist ideologies in the military.
Space is set to be a key focus for Trump's administration, aligning with his pro-space stance and the advisory role of SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. This appointment completes Trump's selection of service secretaries, highlighting his strategic priorities.
