Is it a serious proposal or just a bluff? Many Canadians don't want to be part of the U. S. , and annexing Canada could change U. S. politics significantly. Instead of threatening Canada, why not form a close partnership that addresses both countries' concerns?

The U. S. and Canada already cooperate in many areas, like travel and trade. Why not deepen this cooperation? They could work together on defense, border security, and trade. For example, they could have a joint military force for Arctic security and common rules for border control. This alliance could be a powerful force for good in the world. After all, these countries have a long history of working together when facing perils.
