Transforming Waste Sludge: A New Tech's Potential

A recent study looked at a promising thermochemical tech called enhanced hydrothermal polymerization. This process turns waste sludge into hydrochar, which has a lot of energy. The study found that hydrochar made this way has more energy than the original waste sludge. That means it could be used as an energy source.

The study also designed full-scale plants that could process either 50 tons or 35 tons of dry sludge per day. Both designs were found to be technically doable. Plus, this new tech seemed like the best financial choice compared to other methods used in cities right now. But it's not just about money.
