Tragedy Strikes: Shooter's Motives Revealed in School Playground Attack

In a tragic turn of events, two young boys from Oroville, California, were severely injured in a school shooting. Roman Mendez, 6, and Elias Wolfard, 5, were playing in the school playground when a shooter opened fire. The Butte County Sheriff, Kory Honea, identified the shooter as Glenn Litton, 56, who had a long criminal history. Litton used a false name to meet with the school principal, claiming he wanted to enroll a grandchild. This was a lie, as Litton had no grandchildren. After the meeting, Litton walked to the playground and started shooting. The boys were rushed to the hospital, with Roman having internal injuries and Elias shot in the abdomen. The shooter took his own life.

Litton had spent time in prisons for crimes like forgery. Recently, he was arrested for stealing cash and a U-Haul. He had lived in motels before taking a bus and an Uber to the school. Investigators found notes linking the school to Middle Eastern conflicts, but these claims are unverified. The school, which teaches students from kindergarten to 8th grade, remains closed. Counselors are available to support students and staff. A candlelight vigil is planned for the victims.
