Town Board to Approve Big Truck Purchase

The Westport Finance Board will meet on June 17 at 7:30 p. m. through Zoom to decide a major spending plan for the town’s public works department. The proposal comes from the Department of Public Works, asking the board to allocate $3, 329, 000 to the Municipal Improvement Fund. This money would buy eleven new medium‑size highway dump trucks that weigh 33, 000 pounds each.

The board will also look at whether to issue bonds or notes to cover the cost. If the board gives the green light, the funds will be moved into the specific part of the Municipal Improvement Fund set aside for vehicle purchases. The trucks are a large investment in Westport’s fleet, which helps keep roads smooth, clear snow and support other city services.
