Is $375 million enough to buy credibility? That seems to be the question Fox Sports is asking with its lavish investment in Tom Brady. The network wants everyone to know that their new star analyst is in the booth, but his debut performance was more cringeworthy than compelling. 

From awkward laughter to forced fist-bumps, Brady's commentary lacked personality and pizzazz compared to broadcasting legends like John Madden or even fellow quarterback-turned-analyst Peyton Manning. It felt like watching a rookie who still needs to find his voice on the mic. 

And let's not forget the shameless self-promotion. Why else would they feel the need to give Brady an intro video and repeatedly identify him as a '7-time Super Bowl champion'? The network is clearly trying to ride his fame, but it comes across as desperate rather than confident in their own content. 

Speaking of content, Brady's analysis was knowledgeable but lacking in insight or flair. He made excuses for the Browns when they played poorly and seemed hesitant to criticize players, even when warranted. Where's the bold take that could make a broadcast memorable? 

Of course, it doesn't help that Brady is barred from having the same access as other analysts due to his attempted investment in the Raiders. That creates an uneven playing field right off the bat. 

At the end of the day, this debut raised more questions than it answered. Will Brady be able to find his broadcasting stride or will he remain a clumsy attempt at media stardom? Only time will tell if this $375 million gamble pays off for Fox Sports and their new star analyst.
