Louisiana’s education leaders wrapped up the 2025‑26 academic year by naming three standout students at a ceremony held on May 18 at LSU’s Lod Cook Conference Center.
Elementary Award
Sanil Savita Thorat – Fairfield Magnet School, Caddo Parish
- Participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
- Completed the “1, 000 Books Before Kindergarten” challenge.
- Aspires to a career in medicine and volunteers with local health groups.
Middle School Award
Kaejha Mary‑Anne Christine Stewart – A. E. Phillips Laboratory School, Lincoln Parish
- Performed at Carnegie Hall.
- Leads the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
- Member of the National Junior Honor Society, Science Olympiad, and MathCounts teams.
High School Award
Melissa An Le – Ruston High School, Lincoln Parish
- Set to attend Harvard; previously earned the middle school honor.
- Served as student‑body president and held a state‑wide role with Future Business Leaders of America.
- Launched the “STEM to Bloom” video series, reaching thousands.
- Serves on the National Girls Collaborative Project board.
