The Unexpected Aftermath: What's Next for Hezbollah?
Lebanon, BeirutSunday, October 6, 2024
We've seen this pattern before with groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS. Killing their leaders didn't stop them; it often made them more dangerous. Hezbollah is no different. It's designed to survive the loss of its leader, and now, it might become more radical and less willing to engage in diplomacy.
The IDF's invasion of southern Lebanon has already started. If this turns into a long war, Israel may find Hezbollah much harder to deal with than before Nasrallah's death. It's a harsh reminder that sometimes, the devil you don't know is worse than the one you did.
