The Trust Game: What Amateur Tennis Players Really Think
Wednesday, November 27, 2024
The study also broke down how the trust system works into five stages. First, players start with a basic agreement to trust each other. Then, trust starts to grow. After that, players keep an eye on things to make sure trust is still there. Next, they anticipate any issues and respond quickly. Lastly, they look for ways to make the system even better. The stage where players anticipate and respond was found to be the most important, and also the one that causes the most debate.
To make the trust system fairer and meet the needs of amateur tennis events, the study suggests some tweaks. For example, maybe players could have some training on how to call lines fairly. Or, maybe there could be some simple rules to help players when they're not sure.
