The Palestinian Paradox: A Recipe for Disaster
Middle East, New YorkMonday, September 23, 2024
This distorted reality is further exacerbated by the Palestinian Authority's own actions. Rather than working towards peace, they have chosen to wage war against Israel, using bad-faith international pressure to extract concessions. Meanwhile, President Mahmoud Abbas has remained eerily silent in the face of terror attacks, choosing instead to justify them on TV and pay lavish salaries to terrorists.
Israel, on the other hand, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to peace, making territorial concessions and negotiating in good faith. Despite this, they are met with hostility and rejection from the Palestinian Authority, who refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist.
The consequences of endorsing this resolution are far-reaching. It would embolden terrorists and terror supporters, signaling that their actions would go unpunished. It would also undermine international law, perpetuating cycles of terror and conflict with global impunity.
As the international community converges on New York to build a better future, it is imperative that we reject this flawed resolution and instead work towards a more peaceful Middle East. This requires the Palestinian Authority to distance themselves from Hamas, condemn terrorist attacks, and recognize Israel's right to exist. Only then can we hope to build a brighter future for all parties involved.
