The Name Game: Why Apple Should Ditch Numbers for Descriptive Phone Names
Wednesday, September 11, 2024
By using descriptive names, we could focus on new and exclusive features, defusing the anger towards intergenerational lack-of-innovation. The iPhone Flex, anyone? Or how about the iPhone Secure?
So, do we still have a chance to revive the naming convention? Apple has always been guilty of this, especially with the iPhone. But what about the foldable iPhone? It's the perfect opportunity to hop back on the naming wagon and drop the boring numbers.
The answer is yes. So, let's give it a try. Let's name our phones like we name our pets or our cars. Let's make them a part of our identity.
So, the next time Apple releases a new iPhone, instead of the iPhone, let's hope it's something like the iPhone Atlas. Or the iPhone Blaze. Or the iPhone Nova. Something that tells us what this phone is about, what it can do, and what it's capable of. Something that makes us want to get our hands on it. Something that makes us human.
The question is, will Apple take the leap? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: the world is ready for a name change. Are you ready to join the revolution?
