The Climate Change Denial and Its Impact on America

Scientists worldwide, backed by countless studies, agree that human activities, especially burning fossil fuels, are the main drivers of climate change. Yet, despite overwhelming evidence, some leaders continue to dismiss these facts.

A Dangerous Stance

One such leader is Donald Trump. Back in 2012, he labeled climate change a hoax, even suggesting it was a Chinese plot. In 2025, he repeated these claims at the United Nations, calling climate change the "greatest con job ever." His stance is not just ignorant; it's dangerous.

Renewable Energy: A Key Solution

Renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal power are seen by scientists as key to slowing down global warming. Trump, however, views these sources as unreliable. He has even made bizarre claims that wind turbines cause cancer and kill whales. The sun, wind, and rivers are always there. How is that unreliable?

Halting Progress

In August 2025, the Interior Department halted the Revolution Wind project, an offshore wind farm that could have powered over 350,000 homes and created hundreds of jobs. This is not an isolated incident. The Trump administration is also targeting other offshore wind projects, using federal laws to stop operations without solid reasons.

A Bright Spot in Renewable Energy

Not all projects are at risk. Fervo Energy, a private geothermal company, is set to start producing power in 2026. With a contract to provide 320 megawatts to Southern California Edison, Fervo is a bright spot in the renewable energy sector. The U.S. Department of Energy predicts geothermal energy could produce 300 gigawatts by 2050, enough to power millions of homes.

Threats to Climate Research

Trump's administration has also proposed severe budget cuts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which could cripple climate research. The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), a major player in climate studies, is also under threat. The Office of Management and Budget wants to eliminate NCAR, calling it a source of "climate alarmism."

Disregard for Public Health

In September 2025, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommended ending mandatory greenhouse gas reporting for major polluters. In October, the EPA refused to release a toxicity report on PFNA, a chemical found in millions of Americans' drinking water. These actions show a clear disregard for public health and environmental safety.

To reverse this harm, we need a new Congress in 2026 and a president who values science and democracy in 2028.
