On October 7, 1945, the Chicago Cardinals finally put an end to their long losing streak by beating the Chicago Bears 16-7. This victory broke the NFL record for the longest losing streak at 29 games.

        But the story of sports doesn't stop there. In 1949, Ezzard Charles became the heavyweight boxing champion by knocking out Pat Valentino in the 8th round.

        A few years later, in 1951, Detroit's Jack Christiansen did something amazing. He returned two punts for touchdowns in a single game. Unfortunately, his team, the Lions, still lost to the Los Angeles Rams 27-21.

        The next year, 1979, saw Wayne Gretzky score his first NHL goal. He tied the game with a power-play goal against the Vancouver Canucks with only 1:09 left in the third period.

        Moving on to 1990, Joe Montana had a stellar game. He passed for 476 yards and six touchdowns, helping the San Francisco 49ers beat the Atlanta Falcons 45-35.

        In 1991, Mike Gartner scored his 500th career goal. This happened in the first period of a game where the New York Rangers lost to the Washington Capitals 5-3.

        Sylvia Fowles led the Minnesota Lynx to their third WNBA title in five years in 2015.

        In a thrilling game in 2018, Stephen Gostkowski's last-second field goal gave the New England Patriots a 43-40 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
