The Trump administration is in a bind. They need more money to carry out their immigration plans. Tom Homan, known as the "border czar, " and Russell Vought, the budget director, met with Senate Republicans recently. They made a strong case for more funding.  They said, "We need more money to keep our operations going. "  The Senate Budget Committee chair, Lindsey Graham, gave a hint of what's happening behind closed doors.  He said Homan and Vought are asking for an extra $175 billion.  This is a big jump from the $80 billion to $100 billion that was initially discussed.

        The main concern?  The Trump administration is running out of money for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It's clear that the administration is looking to boost their immigration efforts and keep the country safe.  The Senate is moving fast to approve a budget resolution.  This will help them pass the funding without needing support from Democrats.  This move is bound to cause some tension.  The House and Senate are on different pages when it comes to the budget.  The House wants a big bill that includes everything, while the Senate prefers to split it up.

        The Senate is ready to approve $150 billion for military spending.  The House, on the other hand, wants to include a major tax overhaul in their budget resolution.  This is a point of contention.  The House is struggling to get everyone on board with their plan.  The House Freedom Caucus, a far-right group, is pushing for a two-track process.  They want to tackle immigration money first.  Rep. Andy Harris, a member of the Freedom Caucus, pointed out a pressing issue.  He said, "We’re not going to be able to repatriate the illegal alien criminals who are in our communities.  ICE is running out of detention beds. "  There are still many unknowns.  The timeline for when the House and Senate can reach a deal is uncertain.

        President Trump has been quiet about the internal disagreements.  He's indicated that he's okay with either a one-bill strategy or a two-track process.  Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo. , said, "It's unclear to me where the White House is now. "  He added, "The president says he wants one bill.  It's unclear to me from these guys if they want one bill.  I think they want funding. "  The administration's main goal is clear.  They want more money to enforce their immigration plans.
