The Battle for Battleground States: Georgia and North Carolina Remain Neck and Neck
Georgia, North Carolina, USAThursday, October 31, 2024
Harris supporters in both states are mostly voting to support her, with a larger number of Black voters endorsing her candidacy. Trump supporters, on the other hand, are largely voting to support him.
The race for the governor of North Carolina is also heating up, with Democrat Josh Stein leading Republican Mark Robinson. This is due to significant ticket-splitting, with many Trump voters choosing Stein for governor.
When it comes to the Biden administration's response to Hurricane Helene, both states give similar low approval ratings. However, North Carolina is less satisfied with the federal response.
Both Harris and Trump lead among certain groups. Harris has a strong advantage among Black voters and college graduates. Trump leads among White voters without college degrees, but this lead is less pronounced in North Carolina.
The candidates are also viewed differently on key issues. Trump is trusted more on immigration, foreign policy, and the economy, while Harris leads on abortion and reproductive rights. Voters are also more confident in Harris's honesty and trustworthiness.
Despite the close race, most voters in both states are confident that their votes will be accurately counted.
