North Texas was hit hard by a massive storm on Tuesday morning.  Over 400, 000 people were left in the dark as strong winds tore through the area.  This storm was part of a larger weather system that stretched from Iowa down to Texas.  Forecasters warned that this system would only get stronger as it moved east.  Blizzards were expected in the Great Plains, while severe storms were forecasted for the South.  People in eastern Oklahoma to Alabama and even in western parts of Florida were told to be on the lookout for damaging winds, hail, and even possible tornadoes.  The East Coast was expected to feel the effects of this storm on Wednesday.

The storm caused quite a bit of trouble at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.  Flights were briefly stopped, and about 12 percent of both departing and incoming flights were canceled.  Nearly a third of incoming flights were delayed.  This caused a lot of frustration for travelers trying to get to or from the area.

A wind advisory was issued for north and central Texas.  This advisory was in effect until 9 p. m.  with sustained winds and gusts of up to 50 miles per hour expected.  The storm was so strong that it even ripped part of the roof off a high school in Plano, Texas.  This just goes to show how powerful these storms can be.

The storm was part of a larger weather system that was affecting a large part of the country.  This system was expected to bring a variety of weather conditions to different parts of the country.  From blizzards in the Great Plains to severe storms in the South, this weather system was a force to be reckoned with.  People were advised to stay indoors and avoid any unnecessary travel.  The storm was a reminder of the power of nature and the importance of being prepared for whatever weather comes our way.
