Starting in the 2026-27 school year, Texas will introduce a new Education Savings Account (ESA) program.
Program Details
- Application Open Date: February 4
- Funding Amount:
- General: $10,800 per year
- Students with disabilities: Up to $30,000
- Homeschooled students: Up to $2,000
- Fund Release Schedule:
- 25% by July 1
- 50% by October 1
- Remaining by April 2027
Eligibility and Process
- Eligible Students: Most Texas students, including pre-kindergarten students
- Ineligible Students: Undocumented children
- Required Documentation:
- Proof of citizenship or lawful admission to the U.S.
- Proof of residency
- Proof of school eligibility
Funding Criteria for Students with Disabilities
- Increased Funding: Up to $30,000
- Requirements:
- Individualized education program on file with the Texas Education Agency
- Proof of supplemental income due to a disability or a physician's note

- Uniforms
- Private tutoring

- Meals provided by a private school
