Tesla's New Robots: A Case of Design Inspiration or Copying?

You might remember the robots from the movie "I, Robot". Well, it seems Elon Musk has drawn some inspiration from them for his latest Tesla creations. A Hollywood director, Alex Proyas, who helmed the 2004 sci-fi film, hasn't been too happy about it. He recently shared side-by-side images of Tesla's new robots and his movie's designs, joking, "Hey Elon, can I have my designs back?" Tesla unveiled its new line of robots and self-driving vehicles at an event earlier this month. The star of the show was the upgraded Tesla Bot, now called Optimus. These robots can walk faster, move their hands better, and even have tactile sensors. But they look strikingly similar to the robots in Proyas's movie. The new vehicles, Robovan and Cybercab, also share some design similarities with the film.

People on social media have been buzzing about the resemblance. Some support Proyas, saying Musk is stepping over creative boundaries. Others point out that similar ideas have been around for a long time, citing old films and art deco designs. Musk's vision is grand: robots to help with household tasks and self-driving vehicles that let you sleep through your commute. But the question remains: where does inspiration end and copying begin?
