These workers had been hired to make government technology better, but they felt that Musk's plans were more about politics than practicality.

The workers, who had backgrounds at big tech companies like Google and Amazon, had joined the government to help improve things like healthcare and tax services.  But after Musk took over, they felt that his team was more interested in politics than actually improving things.  They said that Musk's team asked them questions about their political beliefs and didn't seem to understand the technical side of things.  This made them worried about the safety of important government systems and the data of millions of Americans.

The workers who left had been part of a group called the United States Digital Service.  This group was created after problems with the healthcare website during Obama's time in office.  They had been working on important projects, like modernizing Social Security and helping veterans.  But many of them were fired recently, which the remaining workers said made things less safe for everyone.
