Taoyuan Airport Revamps with SITA's Tech for Smoother Flights

Taipei's Taoyuan International Airport, which welcomed nearly 49 million passengers in 2019 but saw a dramatic drop to just under a million in 2021, is bouncing back. With 35 million passengers in 2023, the airport is set to regain its pre-pandemic traffic. To handle this growth and improve efficiency, the airport is collaborating with SITA, a global leader in air transport technology. SITA will provide advanced self-check-in solutions like electronic kiosks, which are becoming increasingly popular worldwide.

Taipei is aiming to become a trailblazer in Asia in terms of airport digitalization. SITA's systems include Local Departure Control and Common Use Terminal Equipment. These will help cut down wait times and boost overall airport efficiency. The airport has already installed 30 new Self-Bag Drop machines in Terminal 1, easing the check-in process. The partnership, set to run until 2033, demonstrates SITA's commitment to enhancing airport IT and the passenger experience. TPE plans to maximize its infrastructure using smart technology, providing a top-notch experience for passengers and more efficient operations for airlines. The airport, which has worked with SITA for over 30 years, is one of the many global airports benefiting from SITA's services.
