Two students found themselves in hot water recently, both facing serious consequences for their actions.  One student, Ranjani Srinivasan, from India, was studying Urban Planning at a prestigious university in New York.  She was caught supporting Hamas, a group known for violence and terrorism.  Because of this, the Department of State decided to revoke her student visa.  This wasn't the end of it.  Srinivasan used an app called CBP Home to leave the country on her own.         Another student, Leqaa Kordia, from the West Bank, was also in big trouble.  She was studying in the United States on a student visa.  Her visa expired in 2022, but she didn't leave.  She was arrested by ICE HSI Newark officers for overstaying her visa.  This wasn't the first time Kordia had run into trouble.  She was also arrested in 2024 for participating in pro-Hamas protests at the same university where Srinivasan studied.

        The Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, had strong words about the situation.  She believes that supporting violence and terrorism is a serious offense.  She thinks that anyone who does this should lose their privilege to study in the United States.  Noem was glad to see one of the students leave the country on their own.

        It's important to note that the United States takes visa violations and support for terrorist activities very seriously.
