Stormy Weather Brews Along the Gulf Coast
Gulf Coast, USATuesday, October 1, 2024
The path of the system is still unclear, but meteorologists are warning that the Gulf Coast should keep a close eye on its progress. The chance of the area becoming a tropical disturbance within the next 48 hours is zero, but it jumps to 40% in the next seven days. As the system moves slowly northwest, environmental conditions could contribute to its development.
Meanwhile, the Atlantic is also abuzz with tropical activity. Tropical storm Kirk is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane by midweek, heading westward toward the Gulf of Mexico. Its projected path could bring it into the northwest Caribbean Sea and potentially impact the US Gulf Coast, still reeling from Helene's devastation.
