On one hand, securing such a massive payday at age 36 seems like a smart move - it ensures financial stability as he approaches the twilight of his career. But some experts worry that by locking himself into this deal until he's nearly 40, Curry may be limiting his leverage and putting the Warriors in a tough position down the line if his performance drops off.

The elephant in the room is Kobe Bryant's late-career contract with the Lakers. By giving Kobe a two-year extension in 2013 rather than one, the team found itself on the hook for millions as injuries sidelined him and his play declined. Could history repeat itself with Steph? Maybe, but there are key differences too - today's free agent market is much stronger, so even if Curry slips some, the Warriors wouldn't be stuck like the Lakers were.
