Spotting a Rare Comet in San Diego

In San Diego, a rare comet called Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS made an appearance in the night sky on Saturday. This isn't just any comet; it's a once-in-a-lifetime event, as it orbits the sun only once every 80,000 years. NASA says it will be visible to the naked eye for several weeks in October, with the best time to spot it being now until October 26.

Local photographer Vishwas Lokesh captured the comet from Poway. He was thrilled to witness something so rare, especially since the last time it passed by, Neanderthals were still around! He hopes future generations or even another species can see it next time. Another photographer, Vladimir Medvinsky, chased the comet up Palomar Mountain and managed to snap some amazing photos. He's been busy – just a few days before, he captured the northern lights in the same area. If you missed it on Saturday, don't worry. You'll have another chance around 45 minutes after sunset on Sunday.
