SpaceX Crew-8 Astronauts' Hospital Visit: What Happened?

You might think that astronauts returning from space would be taken straight to their headquarters. But that didn't happen for the SpaceX Crew-8 team. After splashing down off the coast of Florida, they were whisked off to a hospital instead. Why? Well, they all needed some extra medical checks. And one astronaut even spent the night there! The crew had just spent nearly eight months on the International Space Station (ISS). That's a long time floating around in zero gravity. After their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft landed at 3:29 a. m. ET, they were taken to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola hospital. NASA said it was just a precaution. They wanted to make sure everyone was okay. Out of the four astronauts, one stayed overnight. NASA didn't say who or what was wrong. They just wanted to keep that info private. The next day, the astronaut was released and the group headed back to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston to finish their post-flight routines.

Now, you might be wondering if this medical issue was caused by space. Could it be the long stays in orbit or the trip back to Earth? We don't know for sure.
