A judge in Maryland put a hold on a lawsuit that claims Linda McMahon, Donald Trump's choice for Education Secretary, and the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) company she once led, didn't stop sexual abuse of kids at their events way back in the 1980s. The pause is because the Maryland Supreme Court is considering changes to the law on such lawsuits. This case could slow down McMahon's Senate confirmation process, as she denies the allegations.

The lawsuit says a ringside announcer, Melvin Phillips Jr. , exploited his position to abuse kids. Five men, who were teens at the time, say they were hurt mentally and emotionally by this. They claim McMahon and her husband, Vince, knew about Phillips' behavior but did nothing. The WWE and its parent company want the case put on hold for now, citing efficiency and possible legal challenges.
