Last weekend, the Sting SC 11 girls' Academy soccer team made a splash at the DPL Western Regionals in Provo, Utah. They finished in second place in the U14 Super Group bracket, securing their spot in the DPL Finals next June in Minnesota. Let's dive into their exciting journey. Their adventure began on Thursday with a thrilling 4-1 win against Albion SC Riverside 11G. Midfielder Lucy Doyle scored the first goal, with Presley Moreau providing the assist. The goals kept coming, with Presley scoring on a penalty kick, followed by Brightyn Gatten's goal with an assist from Olivia Nusser. To top it off, Presley scored again on an indirect kick. Next up, they faced Rangers FC G11 and took the victory with a 5-1 score. Brightyn Gatten, Presley Moreau, and Lucy Doyle each found the net, while Kylie Lorona scored twice, assisted by MacKenzie Dolan and Brightyn Gatten.

Saturday brought a tough loss to SDSC Surf 11G, with the Sting falling 3-2. Presley Moreau scored both goals for the Sting, one from a penalty kick and the other from a free kick by Olivia Nusser. Despite the loss, they showed remarkable resilience. In the final showdown against SDSC, the Sting put up a fierce fight. The game went into overtime, where they ultimately lost 2-1. Brightyn Gatten scored the tying goal for the Sting, showcasing their unyielding spirit. Their second-place finish is a testament to their hard work and skill. They'll continue their DPL season at home this upcoming weekend, facing WE Surf SC 11G and WE Surf SC Columbia Basin G11.
