The world premiere of "Snow White" in Hollywood was a star-studded event, but it was far from the usual red carpet extravaganza. Zegler then traveled internationally with director Marc Webb to promote the film. She performed the new single “Waiting on a Wish” in Tokyo and Spain. Gadot, meanwhile, made the press rounds in NYC, appearing on several popular talk shows. The promotional run hasn’t been without its challenges, though.

    The casting of Zegler as Snow White sparked controversy due to her Colombian heritage. Some fans argued that her ethnicity disqualified her from playing the fantasy princess. The social media outrage only grew as time went on. Zegler addressed the controversy, stating that her version of Snow White wouldn’t spend her days pining over a man. She called aspects of the original story “weird” and said that the 1937 film’s prince “literally stalks” Snow White, prompting fans to deem her unworthy of playing Snow White due to her “disdain. ” Zegler later clarified her comments, stating that while Snow White wants romance, she has other goals, too.

    The movie’s portrayal of little people also sparked controversy. “Game of Thrones” alum Peter Dinklage spoke out about the movie’s portrayal of little people, critiquing the animated “Snow White” for perpetuating negative stereotypes. Following those remarks, Disney stated that “to avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community. ”

    The premiere was a mix of glamour and fun, with a touch of controversy. The event was a celebration of the movie and a chance for fans to see their favorite stars in person.
