Shake and Wave: Japan's Earthquake and Tsunami Alert
Kyushu, JapanMonday, January 13, 2025
One minor injury was reported in Kyushu, where a man fell down some stairs. Public transportation was briefly disrupted, with trains stopping at Miyazaki Station. Despite the quake's strength, electric power and nuclear plants in the area remained unaffected.
Japan's frequent earthquakes are due to its location on the "Ring of Fire, " a zone known for its volcanic activity and fault lines. Experts from the meteorological agency met to assess any connection between this quake and potential major quakes in the Nankai Trough region. They decided not to take immediate extraordinary measures, as the area has experienced significant seismic activity in the past, including a deadly quake in 1946.
