Seven Jackson Area Eateries Face Health Inspection Failures

Seven restaurants in the Jackson area didn't pass their health inspections in October. This includes places in Hinds, Rankin, and Madison counties. Five of these spots fixed the issues and passed their follow-up inspections by November 1. Let's look at who didn't make the grade. In Hinds County, Barack Obama Magnet School got a failing mark on October 17. The issue was that they didn't have proper hand-washing facilities. They haven't had a follow-up inspection yet. This is the first time they've gotten a grade lower than a B.

Madison County had a few issues too. The Links of Madison County, a golf course, failed their permit inspection on October 10 due to no certified manager. They haven't had a follow-up inspection yet, but they've had a failing grade before in 2017. Bumpers Drive-In in Flora failed their inspection on October 29. They had problems with food-contact surface sanitization, pests, plumbing, and displaying previous permits. They fixed the issues the next day and got a B. This location has failed six times since 2017. Staybridge Suites in Ridgeland also failed their permit inspection on October 7 due to no certified manager. They corrected this and got a B on October 17. In Rankin County, El Ranchito in Richland failed their permit inspection on October 22 because they didn't have proper cold food temperatures. They fixed this and got a B on October 29. Fueltime 8 Exxon in Pearl failed their permit inspection on October 16 due to inadequate hand-washing facilities. They also fixed this and got a B on October 29. Health inspections use an A, B, and C scale. A means no critical violations, B means some were found but corrected, and C means some weren't corrected during the inspection.
