Samsung is already looking ahead to the Galaxy S27 Ultra, and the camera specs are shaping up to be quite promising. Unlike the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which didn't bring any major camera upgrades, the S27 Ultra might introduce some exciting changes.

Primary Camera Upgrade

The primary camera is expected to feature a new sensor called the ISOCELL HP6. This 200MP sensor is similar to the one in the Galaxy S25 Ultra but with some improvements. The goal is to enhance image and video quality, which is always a good thing.

Ultrawide and Mid-Zoom Camera Improvements

The ultrawide camera might also get an upgrade. The mid-zoom camera, which has been lagging, could finally see some improvements. The current 10MP/12MP sensor with 3x optical zoom might be replaced with a 50MP or even a 200MP sensor. That would be a significant leap.

Additional Potential Upgrades

  • 8K video recording at 60fps
  • Larger sensor for the super telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom
  • Square sensor for the front camera

These changes could make the Galaxy S27 Ultra a powerhouse for photography and videography.

3D Face Scanning for Biometric Authentication

Another interesting rumor is the possible introduction of 3D face scanning for biometric authentication. This technology, using Metalenz's Polar ID system and Samsung's ISOCELL Vizion 931 sensor, could make unlocking the phone more secure and convenient.

Possible Removal of the Built-in S Pen

Lastly, there's speculation that Samsung might remove the built-in S Pen from the Galaxy S27 Ultra. This would be a big change, as the S Pen has been a signature feature of the Ultra models. It remains to be seen if this will actually happen, but it's something to keep an eye on.
