Samsung's Galaxy S25: What's New with the RAM and Processor?

Samsung is cooking up some exciting upgrades for the Galaxy S25 series. One of the most notable changes is the bump in RAM for the base model. Instead of the usual 8GB, the base Galaxy S25 will now come with a whopping 12GB of RAM. This is a significant 50% increase from the previous Galaxy S24 model. The Galaxy S25+ is also expected to pack 12GB of RAM, while the top-tier Galaxy S25 Ultra might offer up to a massive 16GB. These new models were spotted in Geekbench's database, giving us a sneak peek at their specs. Moving on to the processor, the Galaxy S25 series is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. This is a change from initial expectations, which suggested that different countries might get either the Snapdragon 8 Elite or the Exynos 2500 chip. It seems Samsung has decided to stick with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for all models.

Why the switch? Well, reports claim that the Exynos 2500 chip has a low yield rate, meaning not many of them pass quality standards. This has likely pushed Samsung to rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite instead. The Galaxy S24, which is expected to run Android 15 and One UI 7. 0, scored well on Geekbench tests. It hit 2, 480 points in the single-core CPU test and 8, 658 points in the multi-core test. This shows about a 15% boost in single-core performance and around 30% in multi-core performance compared to previous models. With these upgrades, the Galaxy S25 series aims to offer more headroom for users, especially those who love multitasking. Even with many apps open, these phones should handle tasks smoothly.
